ABCF & Albie Aware Partner for Community Breast Health Class & Healthy Cooking Demonstration

On October 24th, The American Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF) was proud to support the 2nd community Breast Health Class & Healthy Cooking Demonstration in Northern California by providing funding for free mammograms for attendees and community members. This partnership came to life through ABCF Board Member, Lisa Mauch, whose role at Kaiser helped connect us with Albie Aware for this important initiative.

In collaboration with Kaiser Permanente, La Familia Counseling Center, Inc., and Albie Aware, the event brought the community together to connect, learn, and take action for their breast health. Attendees enjoyed a live healthy cooking demonstration with take-home ingredient and recipe kits, followed by a breast health presentation from Dr. Claudia De Young, who shared essential information about breast health and the importance of early detection. Participants were also able to receive referrals for free breast cancer screenings.

We were grateful to help make this event accessible to more individuals during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with sessions offered in English, Spanish, and Farsi. ABCF remains committed to providing breast cancer resources year-round to ensure that anyone who needs screening support can access it.
