Phyllis Wolf, President

Recognizing a need for the early detection and treatment of breast cancer among women of all ages, Phyllis Wolf co-founded the American Breast Cancer Foundation in 1997. Her commitment to creating a nonprofit organization whose mission it is to help women and men facing breast cancer has been a catalyst for program development and fundraising since inception. As president of ABCF, Wolf is responsible for the overall leadership, direction and administration of the programs and services provided by the American Breast Cancer Foundation. Earlier in her career, Wolf set precedents with the Maryland Board of Child Care where she developed a program for childcare searches. Wolf is a graduate of supervisory leadership at Loyola College in Baltimore, Md. She is an active member of the National Association of Female Executives, the National Breast Cancer Coalition, the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations, and the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations.

 

 

Brenda Loube, Board Chair

 

The American Breast Cancer Foundation is honored to have Brenda Loube serve as a board member since 2004, and lead as the Board Chair since May 2008. An experienced health educator, business, community and board leader Loube oversees the Volunteer Board of Directors and all board committees. Her personal goal is to bring together a diversely talented and committed team to advance ABCFs capacity to provide access to early detection, the key to surviving breast cancer, to as many people as possible.

Loube is the principal and founder of Corporate Fitness Works, a national provider of customized fitness and wellness services for corporations, government agencies and residential communities. Her career in health and fitness spans more than three decades and includes the establishment of cardiac rehabilitation programs at Georgetown University Hospital.  

In 2003, she received the Health Educator of the Year Award, in the worksite category, from the American Association for Health Education. Loube was appointed to the Maryland Council on Physical Fitness in 2004, and serves as the Council Chair. Additionally, she serves as a board member for the International Association for Worksite Health Promotion, the International Council on Active Aging, and the National Association for Health and Fitness. Loube is also an active member of the Women Presidents Organization, the American Council of Sports Medicine and the Wellness Councils of America.

 

George E. Brown, Esquire, Board Vice Chair

George Brown, an attorney with Baltimore-based law firm Kramon & Graham, P.A., serves as ABCFs board of directors as vice chair. Within his extended family, three loved ones have battled cancer, one of which was diagnosed with breast cancer. Georges acute interest in ABCF is the direct result of the experiences of his loved ones. Serving on ABCFs board of directors enables George to participate in the efforts to educate both women and men about the importance of early detection. George practices in Kramon & Grahams general civil and commercial litigation areas with an emphasis in employment litigation. He earned a bachelor's degree from Towson University in 1996 and a juris doctor from the University of Baltimore in 1999. He is a member of the American, Maryland and Anne Arundel County Bar Associations and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Prior to practicing law, George served in the United States Army. He is married with a teenage daughter.

 

Frances J. Katsha, Board Secretary

Frances J. Katsha joined ABCF in 2008 and is presently serving her second term and serves this term as board secretary. Her career spans nearly 15 years in the hospitality industry. Presently, Frances is the Human Resources Director at the Holiday Inn in Gaithersburg, Md. where she oversees the daily operations of a staff of 120 specialists in recruiting, training and policy development. Francis has held similar positions with the Gaithersburg Marriott Washington Center and served as the executive director at the Summerville Senior Living community in Potomac for two years. Her management experience, organizational skills and communication abilities are valuable to the ABCF as the organization broadens its reach and ability to provide early breast cancer screening and diagnostic services for those who are under-insured or uninsured in the United States.

 

Bruce Mueller, Board Member

Bruce Mueller joined ABCFs board of directors in 2008. Mueller is a Baltimore native who has more than three decades of experience in the information technology field.  The experiences of family members and friends diagnosed with cancer led Mueller to ABCF where he contributes his time and expertise in the fulfillment of ABCFs mission. Mueller is an Executive Vice President with for Dimension Data, an IT services and solutions provider. Mueller is a member of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association and the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association. He serves on the board of directors for Rich Farms, Inc. and Freedom Telecom and serves as an Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America.

 

Dawn Cummings, Board Member

Dawn Cummings joined ABCFs board of directors in 2008. As a Senior Vice President with Wachovia Bank in Baltimore, she brings a strong background in finance and operations to ABCFs all-volunteer board. Cummings has worked closely with non-profit clients for the past ten years as a relationship manager and understands the challenges faced by many charitable organizations today. A family history of breast cancer encouraged her to contribute her professional skills as a member of the board. She also is a board member of the US Wushu-Kung-Fu Federation and holds a black belt in Kung Fu.
